In times of significance, it seems like everyone is a certified virologist… even those who proport factually incorrect information. Today, we’ll discuss some common myths of COVID19 and scientific literacy. Let’s learn to be scientifically conversational.

1)     Discussion questions:

a.     Let’s discuss some common SARS-CoV-2 myths.

i.     Is there actually a virus?

ii.     Masks are not 0.2 um filters, so they will not stop a virus. (related to virus diameter and liquid drop diameter)

iii.     Are “coronavirus toes” a real symptom of the virus?

iv.     Is the virus genetically engineered? Is it related to HIV?

v.     Is my local 5G network transferring the virus?

b.     Why do recommendations from the CDC change over time? Are they lying to us?
